Buon griono principessa!
Yesterday while trying to find something decent to watch on TV I came up to this wonderful movie. I hadn’t watched it since a long time and yesterday was a remembrance day. Surprising (or not) was that I remembered every bit of the movie, even though I had only watched it once.
We are in fascist Italy and we follow the life of the jewish Guido, a man who is in love with a school teacher, Dora, and meets her everywhere, in some unbelievable places sometimes. Finally, they get married. Some years later we can see that the nazis are in Italy and they take Guido and his son Josué to a concentration camp. Dora decides to leave with them in the train, not wanting to leave her husband and child. Once at the concentration camp we can see how the imagination of Guido keep Josué out of the reality and keeps both of them alive….
Life is beautiful, yes. And so is this movie, a movie that will never get old in time. A movie that everybody should watch once in their lifetime. Be ready to cry (even if it only a bit).
